Spirit Airlines announced today that CEO Ted Christie has resigned, effective immediately. Chief Commercial Officer Matt Klein is also departing, with Rana Ghosh set to succeed him.
In the interim, the company will be led by a team consisting of Chief Financial Officer Fred Cromer, Chief Operating Officer John Bendoraitis, and General Counsel Thomas Canfield, until a new CEO is appointed.
The airline filed for bankruptcy protection in November, citing years of mounting losses, a failed merger attempt with JetBlue Airways, and increased competition. However, Spirit successfully completed its financial restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11 last month.
