The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they will be parting ways with head coach John Tortorella. In a statement, Flyers general manager Daniel Briere said, "Today, I made the very difficult decision to move on from John as our head coach."
Tortorella, who has led the Flyers for the past three seasons, posted a record of 97-107-33 during his tenure. Under his leadership, the team failed to qualify for the playoffs in each of those seasons and is currently on a six-game losing streak. The Flyers' current record stands at 28-36-9, placing them at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.
